Why are smart black guys (Carlton and Urkel) considered insults in the black community?

Maybe he was just being sarcastic...ever thought of that? Its like saying "no (beep) Sherlock" i think. I don't think Carlton is really an insult itself though(well maybe a little and your profile pic mightve reminded him of Carlton) , just like Sherlock isn't.
