Your dad obviously doesn't know much about dogs. Dogs basically have a huge fur coat, and especially your dog. If your dad doesn't want to fix it, compromise, take some water bottles if you have them, and lay them around her, also make sure she gets plenty of water, maybe even poor a little water on her. The most important thing is to make sure she stays hydrated.
